Our Story
The American military is an all-volunteer force. It attracts the bold and patriotic, who serve with courage and honor.
We are combat veterans from every branch - Marines who fought in Iraq, Navy SEALs who conducted missions in Africa, Army Rangers who served in Afghanistan.
We experienced the horrors of gun violence in unstable, developing nations where a child can only imagine peace and security.
Returning from abroad, we witnessed an epidemic of gun violence shockingly similar to the combat zones where we served - an America where gun shots ring out in the night, and every morning there are bodies to be counted.
For over ten years we have forged alliances with numerous communities, now enlisting committed civilians from both sides of the political spectrum.
We are the bold and courageous from big cities and small towns - an all-volunteer force that relentlessly pursues the elimination of gun violence in America.

Did you know that 43,000 Americans die from gun violence every year? It affects our schools and churches, workplaces - nobody is immune.
Every year it’s getting worse. We don’t want America to end up like some of the terrible countries where we've served. There are places in America we could call, “non-permissive” - which means, you’re in danger of being shot, just walking the street.

Our
commitment
We need to stop America from becoming like Iraq and Afghanistan. The veterans and VAGV fought hard and served America. But we didn’t want to come home to gun violence. We don't want our kids to live in fear. No here. Not in our country. This is supposed to be the land of the free. And that means free from fear. So, VAGV may be the most important mission we've ever had.
