In fact, each day in America 64 people die from suicide by gun - one every 22 minutes. How do we stop this? There is an argument that holds little water with me. It is the idea that if you take away guns, people will still commit suicide. Did you know that your gun is your best tool for suicide. Traditionally, guns are 90% effective, a much higher rate than any other form of suicide. Additionally, studies have proven that people living with a gun in the home are twice as likely to die by suicide. At VAGV we are not advocating gun confiscation, but are advocating action. That means taking the time to recognize the signs of depression, mental disorders or substance abuse. These are powerful forces that often drive one to suicide. If you care about your loved ones, or your neighbors or friends you will do what you can to keep them away from a gun when they are most vulnerable. Convince them to lock it up, put it where it is not easily accessable, it doesn't take a lot to break the chain that leads to suicide. At VAGV we offer workshops to help you see the signs of suicide. Experts teach us that well over 96% of suicides were completely predictable. Healthy, happy, well adjusted people don't commit suicide. The signs are there and they are easy to read when you know what to look for. Help us prevent the needless death of suffering Americans. Become a subscribing member and save a life today!
